With an investment of €5.9 million by the Department of Infrastructures and Territorial Development of Bizkaia Provincial Council, the works have been ongoing for a year.

What is known as the Coca-Cola roundabout, located at the kilometre point 103+ 200 of the N-634, entered into service in October 2023, after completing the final work on the road surface, road markings, signage, lighting, containment systems and signposting.

Most of the work at the Irubide junction has consisted of equipping the intersection with a 70-metre diameter roundabout. This new structure enables faster, organised and safe traffic regulation in comparison to the previous traffic light system.

By 2 October the large roundabout of the N-634 and BI-625 intersection came into “definitive” service, establishing an important milestone in the works to improve this junction.

The access roads to the two industrial estates connecting from the N-634 are already in service, facilitating traffic and access to these industrial areas.
